Time to dust off the gears today. With a projected high temperature of 67 degrees [f] today, and no formal work prospects, I think it’s time to do something positive for my overall health. It’s been two years since I’ve been in the saddle. A couple of injuries to the back have kept me from stomping the pedals. And now, nursing a punishing knee injury sustained on the sledding hill, I’m a little weary of being clipped in to my pedals. What’s more, I’ve never taken to the streets, or any other paths for that matter, within Summitt or Portage counties. In a past life, I conquered the streets of Rochester, New York. What challenges will Akron, Ohio present? Bring on the potholes. The impetus for exercise is two-fold. As the aforementioned is self-evident, the latter reason for hitting the pavement isn’t so obvious. Hear about Polaroid? Remember film? Well, Polaroid film is back - sort of. The Impossible Project has released a re-formulated film - two, actually - to work with Polaroid cameras. About two years ago, I picked up a mint condition original SX-70 camera for $20.00 in an antique/junk store. (I see now that they can be found online in upwards of $300!) Since this camera conveniently folds down into a large pocket, it makes a handy, but slightly clunky cycling camera. Let the creative juices [and blood] flow.
